Self-Publishing: 3

Interesting news that PressBooks have announced a pricing stricture, setting themselves up as a full-on publishing services provider. There’s debate on exactly where the boundary falls with publishong services companues versus publishers, but here’s a cursory stab: if the output is capable of damaging the reputation ad hence sales of said company, it’s a publisher, and not a publishing services provider.  Lots to debate there. I’m sure that this area will only grow as people get used the idea that they can ‘ebook’ anything. But I’m not sure unmitigated output is necessarily a great thing. You want a picture? Here’s my conference stand.
