‘A Day Without Me’

It’s my brother’s birthday and I don’t know what to get him. Later on, I buy groceries to give him: meat, cheese, wine. I’m on my way to see someone for a drink and I am late by comfortably half an hour. I am rarely late, usually early, and I ponder as I lie nursing a headache what this meant.  That I didn’t want to be there?
